The song is very happy and it always make me feel good. The words are intended for someone important. Song always reminds me of my best friend, becose she are cinema, and I love she just the way she are. I heard the song  the first time in the last summer, and I am still not bored of it. Although this is a love song, it is still not a slow song like every love songs is. I’ve heard this song many times at the bar, and the rhythm of this song is a wonderful dance!

“Alive” is a song by the american rock band Pearl Jam. The lyrics are written by the vocalist of the group, Eddie Vedder. It was Pearl Jam’s first single, and appeared on the band’s debut album, Ten (1991). The song is the first piece to a trilogy of songs entitled Momma-Son. It includes the songs “Alive”, “Once”, and “Footsteps”.”Alive” tells the story of a young man discovering that his father is actually his stepfather. The boy grows up to look just like his biological father and his mother falls in love with the son and sexually abuses him. This leads to “Once,” part two of the story and describes the boy obviously mentally disturbed and not able to control his rage, so he goes on a killing spree. The trilogy is concluded with “Footsteps” where the boy is sitting in his cell on death row, awaiting for his execution.

“Alive” has been revealed by Vedder to be part autobiographical and part fiction. When Vedder was a teenager, his mother revealed to him that the man he thought was his father was actually his stepfather, and that his biological father was dead. The first and last verses detail those events, but the second verse is fiction. The lyrics of the second verse are, “Oh, she walks slowly, across a young man’s room/She said I’m ready…for you/I can’t remember anything to this very day/’Cept the look, the look…/Oh, you know where, now I can’t see, I just stare…,” and Vedder revealed that “she” was the mother, and “the look” referred to was not the look on her face, but “the look is between her legs. Where do you go with that? That’s where you came from.”

Lyrics:

Son, she said, have I got a little story for you
What you thought was your daddy was nothin’ but a…
While you were sittin’ home alone at age thirteen
Your real daddy was dyin’, sorry you didn’t see him,
but I’m glad we talked…

Oh I, oh, I’m still alive
Hey, I, I, oh, I’m still alive
Hey I, oh, I’m still alive
Hey…oh…

Oh, she walks slowly, across a young man’s room
She said I’m ready…for you
I can’t remember anything to this very day
‘Cept the look, the look…
Oh, you know where, now I can’t see, I just stare…

I, I’m still alive
Hey I, but, I’m still alive
Hey I, boy, I’m still alive
Hey I, I, I, I’m still alive, yeah
Ooh yeah…yeah yeah yeah…oh…oh…

Is something wrong, she said
Well of course there is
You’re still alive, she said
Oh, and do I deserve to be
Is that the question
And if so…if so…who answers…who answers…

I, oh, I’m still alive
Hey I, oh, I’m still alive
Hey I, but, I’m still alive
Yeah I, ooh, I’m still alive
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

The mood of the song is vindictive and aggressive.Obviously I don’t find any connections to my own life, but it is still one of my favourite songs.

Pearl Jam performing “Alive” live in concert

Lyrics from the official webpage

some facts from the book “Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder: None Too Fragile”  by Martin Clarke

After reading the others texts of lyrics with deep meanings, and life changing stories I decided to pick a lighter subject. I think I have something better to say about this.

I guess some of you have heard of the rising pop sensation, the new generation’s boy band, One Direction. If not, then I’m sure that you will soon. If yes, I take it that you either hate them to guts or love them to death like I do.

I am a mountain
I am a tall tree, oh
I am a swift wind, sweeping the country
I am a river down in the valley, oh
I’m a vision and I can see clearly If anybody asks you who I am
Just stand up tall
Look ’em in the face and say [chorus]
I’m that star up in the sky
I’m that mountain peak up high
Hey, I made it
I’m the world’s greatest
I’m that little bit of hope
When my back’s against the ropes
I can feel it
I’m the world’s greatest I am a giant
I am an eagle, oh
I am a lion down in the jungle
I am a marching band
I am the people, oh
I am a helping hand
I am a hero If anybody asks you who I am
Just stand up tall
Look ’em in the face and say [chorus]
I’m that star up in the sky
I’m that mountain peak up high
Hey, I made it
I’m the world’s greatest
I’m that little bit of hope
When my back’s against the ropes
I can feel it
I’m the world’s greatest In the ring of life I’ll rain love
And the world will notice a king
Where there is darkess
I will shine light
And the rythem of sucess will
Be our key I’m that star up in the sky (oh)
I’m that mountain (peak up high) peak up high
Hey, I made It (I said, I made it)
I’m the world’s greatest (I’m that little bit)
I’m that little bit of hope (oh oh)
When my back’s against the wall (when my back’s against the ropes)
I can feel it (I can feel it)
I’m the world’s greatest

Oh, I’m that star up in the sky (star up in the sky)
I’m that mountain peak up high (oh, yes I am)
Hey, I made it (I made it)
I’m the world’s greatest (I’m that little bit of hope)
I’m that little bit of hope (oh oh)
When my back’s against the wall (when my back’s against the ropes)
I can feel it (I can feel it)
I’m the world’s greatest

I’m that star up in the sky (oh)
I’m that mountain (peak up high) peak up high
Hey, I made It (I said, I made it)
I’m the world’s greatest (I’m that little bit)
I’m that little bit of hope (oh oh)
When my back’s against the wall (when my back’s against the ropes)
I can feel it (I can feel it)
I’m the world’s greatest

He’s the greatest (he’s the greatest)
He’s the greatest, can you feel it

I don’t have any favorite artist or a song because I listen different kind of music but I pick this song because it means a lot to me as an athletic.
The song is written and recorded by R Kelly and it was released on 2002.  It’s featured on a soundtrack to a film name Ali. The film tells story of boxing icon Muhammad Ali.
The song tells about feeling that you get when you achieve something big and what it feels to be a world champion, The world’s greatest. In the song there is references to boxing like “When my back’s against the ropes” but there is also a symbolic meaning. The song is full of beautiful symbols but message is that you are great and you can do anything or be anything even if it’s hard or seems impossible but nothing is  impossible.
I like this song so much because it tells about the feeling that I wanna get and what I work for. That song is played every year at ICU cheerleading world championships opening ceremony and it’s my dream to go there to compete and achieve a good place.
You can also listen this song if you’re feeling down or feel that you can’t make it and it might cheer you up because it definitely cheer me up.

Na na na na na na na na na na na na [x2]
I guess I just lost my husband,
I don’t know where he went,
So I’m gonna drink my money,
I’m not gonna pay his rent,
I got a brand new attitude and
I’m gonna wear it tonight,
I wanna get in trouble,
I wanna start a fight,
na na na na na na na I wanna start a fight,
na na na na na na na I wanna start a fight.

[Chorus:]
So, so what
I’m still a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don’t need you,
And guess what,
I’m having more fun,
And now that we’re done,
I’m gonna show you tonight,
I’m alright,
I’m just fine,
And you’re a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don’t want you tonight.

(Uh check my flow, aw)
The waiter just took my table,
And gave it to Jessica Simps (shit!),
I guess I’ll go sit with drum boy,
At least he’ll know how to hit,
What if this song’s on the radio,
then somebody’s gonna die,
I’m gonna get in trouble,
My ex will start a fight,
na na na na na na na he’s gonna start a fight,
na na na na na na na we’re all gonna get in a fight!

[Chorus]

You weren’t there,
You never were,
You want it all,
But that’s not fair,
I gave you life,
I gave my all,
You weren’t there,
You let me fall.

[Chorus]

No, no, no, no
I don’t want you tonight,
You weren’t there,
I’m gonna show you tonight,
I’m alright,
And you’re a tool,
And you’re a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don’t want you tonight!

Alecia Beth Moore better known as Pink (P!nk) was born 8 of September 1979 (age 32). Pink is an American singer but she also writes songs and does acting. Pink is known world-wide and all of her albums have succeeded very well, all of her albums have been in top 10 (in U.S, Australia and United Kingdom) except the first one Can’t Take Me Home. So What tells about Pink’s and her husband’s break up and it gives the listener a little hint about Pink’s personality.

I chose this song because the song was fitting into my mood. I like the song because in my opinion it gives you feeling that you can be pissed off that you don’t always need to be nice and act well, sometimes you just have to let all the anger, frustration or whatever it is out (preferably in a constructive way like punching a punching bag). In my opinion this song can be abridged to “I am who I am, I’ll do what I want and I don’t care what you think of me or how it makes me look” and well sometimes I’m like that, so yeah there’re connections to my own life in this song (I don’t think I’m able to point out directly any connections). However the thing in this song I like to most is how Pink leaves the “whining” about her husband to very end of the song and by that it even fits into this song.

It was really hard to choose a song for this due to the fact that the song had to tell something about the artist’s life. I don’t have any favorite band, singer or even a song, it all depends on my mood. Despite all the problems finding a good song I did, and well it’s not my favorite but I still like it. =D

I’m not a big fan of Eminem. Not even rap in general, but this is just a song that never fails to make me cry.

This is a song he wrote for his daughter when he didn’t have that much spare time on his hands to see her. He had serious fights and other issues with his now-ex-wife Kimberley Scott, for example about the custody of their daughter.

I can’t point out only few references to the artist’s personal life, the entire song is about Eminem’s personal life. Therefore I find it amazing. A person who is able to write so openly and sincerely about his life oughts to be respected.

Eminem’s and Kimberley Scott’s daughter Hailie isn’t the only one Eminen a.k.a Marshall Mathers is singing to in the song. He has also adopted two daughters and he’s singing to the other one out of the two, Alaina “Lainie” Mathers.

It’s beautiful how the theme of the song isn’t either extremely sad or happy. It is a statement with a hint of positiveness in it, as he is singing about how things will get better. This is something that – at least for me – makes this the best song to listen to if you down. I may not have the exact same situation going on but the positive attitude of the song is beautifully sad… and powerful at the same time.

Lyrics:

Yeah
I know sometimes things may not always make sense to you right now
But hey, what daddy always tell you?
Straighten up little soldier
Stiffen up that upper lip
What you crying about?
You got me…

Hailie I know you miss your mom and I know you miss your dad
When I’m gone, but I’m trying to give you the life that I never had
I can see you’re sad, even when you smile, even when you laugh
I can see it in your eyes, deep inside you want to cry
Cuz you’re scared, I ain’t there?
Daddy’s with you in your prayers
No more crying, wipe them tears
Daddy’s here, no more nightmares
We gonna pull together through it, we gonna do it
Lainnie uncle’s crazy, aint he?
Yeah but he loves you girl and you better know it
We’re all we got in this world
When it spins, when it swirls
When it whirls, when it twirls
Two little beautiful girls
Lookin’ puzzled, in a daze
I know it’s confusing you
Daddy’s always on the move, mamma’s always on the news
I try to keep you sheltered from it but somehow it seems
The harder that I try to do that, the more it backfires on me
All the things growing up as daddy that he had to see
Daddy don’t want you to see but you see just as much as he did
We did not plan it to be this way, your mother and me
But things have got so bad between us
I don’t see us ever being together ever again
Like we used to be when we was teenagers
But then of course everything always happens for a reason
I guess it was never meant to be
But it’s just something we have no control over
and that’s what destiny is,
But no more worries, rest your head and go to sleep
Maybe one day we’ll wake up and this will all just be a dream

[Chorus]
Now hush little baby, don’t you cry
Everything’s gonna be alright
Stiffen that upperlip up little lady, i told ya
Daddy’s here to hold ya through the night
I know mommy’s not here right now and we don’t know why
We feel how we feel inside
It may seem a little crazy, pretty baby,
But i promise momma’s gon’ be alright

It’s funny
I remember back when you and daddy had no money
Mommy wrapped the Christmas presents up
And stuck ’em under the tree and said some of ’em were from me
Cuz daddy couldn’t buy ’em
I’ll never forget that Christmas I sat up the whole night crying
Cuz daddy felt like a bum, see daddy had a job
But his job was to keep the food on the table for you and mom
And at the time every house that we lived in
Either kept getting broken into and robbed
Or shot up on the block and your mom was saving money for you in a jar
Trying to start a piggy bank for you so you could go to college
Almost had a thousand dollars till someone broke in and stole it
And I know it hurt so bad it broke your momma’s heart
And it seemed like everything was just startin’ to fall apart
Mom and dad was arguin’ a lot so momma moved back
Onto Chalmers in a flat one bedroom apartment
And dad moved back to the other side of 8 Mile on Novara
And that’s when daddy went to California with his CD and met Dr. Dre
And flew you and momma out to see me
But daddy had to work, you and momma had to leave me
Then you started seeing daddy on the T.V. and momma didn’t like it
And you and Lainnie were to young to understand it
Papa was a rollin’ stone, momma developed a habit
And it all happened too fast for either one of us to grab it
I’m just sorry you were there and had to witness it first hand
Cuz all I ever wanted to do was just make you proud
Now I’m sittin in this empty house, just reminiscing
Lookin’ at your baby pictures, it just triks me out
To see how much you both have grown, it’s almost like you’re sisters now
Wow, I guess you pretty much are and daddy’s still here
Lainnie I’m talkin’ to you too, daddy’s still here
I like the sound of that, yeah,
It’s got a ring to it don’t it?
Shh, momma’s only gone for the moment

[Chorus]

And if you ask me too
Daddy’s gonna buy you a mockingbird
I’mma give you the world
I’mma buy a diamond ring for you
I’mma sing for you
I’ll do anything for you to see you smile
And if that mockingbird don’t sing and that ring don’t shine
I’mma break that birdies neck
I’ll go back to the jeweler who sold it to ya
and make him eat every carat
don’t fuck with dad (haha)

I chose Chris Medina’s “What are words” song, because I think that it’s such a lovely and touching love story.

Chris Medina became known when he performed in a TV show called American Idol in 2011. He made a single “What are words” which is a heartbreaking story of his fiancée. At the summer of 2011 Chris had been asked to perform all around the world. For example Chris Medina sang “What are words” at an 18-year-old girl’s funeral, who was a victim of Norwegian terror attacks.

When Chris Medina performed in American Idol he shared his fiancée’s story and it touched everyone’s hearts. Two months before Chris and his fiancée Juliana Ramos were supposed to marry, after six years of dating, Juliana had a car accident and suffered serious brain injury. She was in a coma first and it wasn’t sure that she would even wake up. After that car accident Juliana has been confined to a wheelchair. That happened in 2009 and after nearly  three years Chris is still by her side. Chris is Juliana’s caretaker with Juliana’s mom.  When Chris was voted off American Idol his story was so touching that Jennifer Lopez, who is a judge of American Idol broke down in tears.

Lyrics:

Anywhere you are, I am near
Anywhere you go, I’ll be there
Anytime you whisper my name, you’ll see
How every single promise I keep
Cuz what kind of guy would I be
If I was to leave when you need me most

What are words
If you really don’t mean them
When you say them
What are words
If they’re only for good times
Then they don’t
When it’s love
Yeah, you say them out loud
Those words, They never go away
They live on, even when we’re gone
And I know an angel was sent just for me
And I know I’m meant to be where I am
And I’m gonna be
Standing right beside her tonight
And I’m gonna be by your side
I would never leave when she needs me most

What are words
If you really don’t mean them
When you say them
What are words
If they’re only for good times
Then they don’t
When it’s love
Yeah, you say them out loud
Those words, They never go away
They live on, even when we’re gone

Anywhere you are, I am near
Anywhere you go, I’ll be there
And I’m gonna be here forever more
Every single promise I keep
Cuz what kind of guy would I be
If I was to leave when you need me most

I’m forever keeping my angel close

In the lyrics of this song Medina explains how he is going to stay by Juliana’s side, never leaving her.  Medina said in a pre-recorded video on American Idol that: “Through thick and thin till death do us part, in sickness and health, for better or worse. What kind of guy would I be if I walked out when she needed me the most.” That is the same as in a wedding, when a priest says “for better or worse”. In Medina’s song he sings that words don’t mean anything if you just say them.  I think that Medina wants to show how he has kept his word. I believe in real love and I hope that everyone is going to stand by their love. Something unexpected can happen at any time, but like this song says, take care of your loved ones, especially when they need it the most.

The song I picked for this assignment is A Different Kind of Knight by an extraordinary artist by the name of Christian Kane.

I don’t know where to even start with describing this song. Maybe from the beginning – that is, the man who wrote it. Christian Kane is an American – part Cherokee – artist, actor and professional fighter, originally from Oklahoma, who currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He’s multi-talented, but, as he says, always just a country boy at heart; a boy who wants to sing and play his guitar. He most definitely belongs amongst my very favorite artists, and I admire him in many aspects.

A Different Kind of Knight has very much to do with Christan’s life. In fact, he wrote both the music and the lyrics on his own, and the song itself is about him; he himself says he wrote it because he ‘got tired of apologizing to women for being the way he is‘. It is about the story of a man who’s not a woman’s conventional idea of a knight in shining armor – very far from it, in fact. It tells about the way this man goes through towns and bars and finds women who interest him, but not for very long. It’s about all the hearts he’s broken. Christian says that he’s made his peace with being the way he is – ‘a Gypsy, always moving on and never settling down‘. This song is about that, about him, and about him wishing that everybody else would understand.

As for me, there are too many words to describe how I feel about this song. From the technical side, I consider Christian an incredible talent in writing both music and lyrics; I adore the easy flow all his songs have, and in this particular one, what always stuns me is the imagery – “As luck would have it/I was tossed by the throne/I let my Mary Anne down/Some years ago/And I traded my coat of arms/For a guitar and some broken yellow lines.” It never fails to leave me wondering just how exactly can someone come up with something so brilliant.

I have a lot of love and respect for Christan Kane’s songs, as well as for Christian himself. I’ve only discovered him recently, in September, and listened to him practically non-stop. Hearing his songs –  A Different Kind of Knight especially – takes me back to when I was a scared newbie in Finland, back to where the trees were green and the sun was shining and I was riding around aimlessly in the subway. It reminds me of being confused, but happy, of discovering the city and the people, of eating dinner with my host family out in the garden. It has a feeling of atmosphere for me, and it never fails to send a shiver down my spine when I hear the opening chords.

I hope you enjoy listening to it at least half as much as I do.

Can I cut in on a dance?
You ain’t gonna find what you’re lookin’ for
In that little Mexican
You can’t mix your tears
With those from an agave plant
You see I’ve danced with him myself
And he’s never been a friend

You go believin’ in your Lancelot
Well it’s all in vain
And you’re chasin’ picket fences
There’s always hell to pay
I met many a girl in here
With the same storyline
All them boys on those white horses
Don’t know how to ride

But I got a paint outside with enough giddyup
To be free
I got a faint smell of cheap perfume
And a hint of gasoline
See I’m a different kind of knight
You’re gonna find your fairytales are lies
I don’t have a white horse
But you can come along for the ride

She said “I’m tired of living life in a romance book
I think chivalry’s dead
And I ain’t gonna look
For them roundtable boys on a white horse
That can’t get the story right.”

I said “As luck would have it
I was tossed by the throne
I let my Mary Anne down
Some years ago
And I traded my coat of arms
For a guitar and some broken yellow lines.”

She kinda shifted in her seat a little bit
The thought of every eye on her bee-stung lips
And she raised that glass and the lime
And she kissed them goodbye

She said “Promise me you’ll take it slow
And swear no talk of tomorrow
And when you feel me tighten around you
Well you can let the hammer down.”

I don’t have a white horse
But you can come along for the ride

Lyrics:

“Breakaway”

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I’d just stare out my window
Dreaming of what could be
And if I’d end up happy
I would pray (I would pray)

Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I prayed I could break away

[Chorus:]
I’ll spread my wings and I’ll learn how to fly
I’ll do what it takes til’ I touch the sky
And I’ll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won’t forget all the ones that I love
I’ll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get on board a fast train
Travel on a jet plane, far away (I will)
And breakaway

[Chorus]

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging around revolving doors
Maybe I don’t know where they’ll take me but
Gotta keep moving on, moving on
Fly away, breakaway

I’ll spread my wings
And I’ll learn how to fly
Though it’s not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won’t forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway, breakaway, breakaway

To be honest Kelly Clarkson was not my first choice for this post, but then I realized that she is the only singer that I know who uses lyrics that come from her life experiences.

Clarkson was born in Forth Worth, Texas, and grew up in the small town of  Burleson. Her mother was a first grade English teacher and her dad was a former engineer of English descent. When Clarkson was six years old, her parents divorced after seventeen years of marriage. That was very difficult time for Kelly. That divorce made life hard for her. Clarkson’s family struggled financially, and after her parents divorced, music became her refuge.

Music become her way to escape from the reality where she was living in. Kelly`s life was pretty hard at those times and because of music and her self-confidence she survived. If you ask me she is not just a good singer but a brilliant one and the words in her songs are gorgeous, they come from her heart.

I’ll spread my wings
And I’ll learn how to fly
Though it’s not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

I love the whole song word by word but this part of the song is my favorite. It gives me  encourage. It tells me to be positive and believe for a better tomorrow even when times are hard for me. Always when I listen to this song it fills me with so many feeling from sadness to hope. I feel so good listening to this song. It gives me hope.

This is eminems best song, if you ask me. This song makes me feel happy and it makes me thing what is important in life and what is not. I like the lyrics very much and everyone should listen to the message Eminem is giving in this song. Sometimes when I feel down this song cheers me up. It is a great song !

Alright, so, after thinking about this for days on end, I’ve finally decided to make this post about The All-American Rejects’ song “Top of the World“, even though it’s not really my favourite song (I don’t have one), but hey, it’s quite catchy and I’m sure that you’ll eventually learn how to love it, just like my turtle Billy has.

I did my best investigating the meaning(s) of the song, but all I came up with was that it’s supposedly about the United States’ former president George W. Bush’s shortcomings and stumbles as the president of the United States.

Oh, man, I spent at least a day stressing over writing this but it’s been pretty easy.. at least until now. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, so, the song.. to me, the song is about kings, politicians et cetera, who are given the power to change the world for the better but are too incompetent to do so. The song also makes me think about my own life because let’s be honest, I’ve been given more opportunities than most other people but in the end I’ve shat all over them and I’m definitely one of the laziest little shits to ever walk on this beautiful planet.

That might have sounded a little too depressing.. well, here are the lyrics of the song:

[Verse 1]
Is there anybody out there?
That wakes up with a bitter taste?
It’s a king that we put up there
And he’s a short way to fall from grace
It’s slowly filling upward.
You can stand but you have no ground.
I hear it from the lost words.
They say it’s time that you lost your crown.

[Chorus]
Don’t be so greedy.
A dollar’s a penny to you
When hearts are beating
Say what you want ’em to do.
Wasting away… I see you.
When the top of the world falls on you
Finding a day, don’t wanna be you
When the top of the world falls on you

[Verse 2]
Is there anybody out there?
That can see what a man can change?
It’s better that you don’t care
Because he knows that he’s in his stage
I feel the paranoia.
When there’s a time, put you in your place
In the eyes of those who watch ya
Well they can wait ’til you hit your face

[Chorus]
Don’t be so greedy.
A dollar’s a penny to you
When hearts are beating
Say what you want ’em to do.
Wasting away… I see you.
When the top of the world falls on you
Finally a day, don’t wanna be you.
When the top of the world falls on you

Paint yourself a picture
When you waste another picture
And you win, and you win, and you win
Paint yourself a picture
And then you break another picture
And you win, and you win, and you win
And you win, yeah you win, and you win

[Chorus]
Don’t be so greedy
A dollar’s a penny to you
When hearts stop beating
Say what you want ’em to do
Wasting away… I see you
When the top of the world falls on you
Finding a day, don’t wanna be you
When the top of the world falls on you

Wasting away… I see you
When the top of the world falls on you
Finding a day, don’t wanna be you
When the top of the world falls on you

The lyrics are from http://www.plyrics.com

Christopher Edward Medina was born on November 30, 1983. He leaped to the public from the TV-competition American Idol, which he take part in at the tenth season on 2011. He released a single called “What Are Words” on February 25, 2011. The song and the lyrics are made for Chris Medina’s fiancée, who was in a car accident on October 2009, and get a brain injury.

I love this song, because besides it has a beautiful melody, it is also very touching and wonderful. I think that the lyrics are the heart of this song; they are very dignified, sweet and full of love. The most important thing in this moving song is the true story and the way Chris sings about it. The song is not about cheesy love lyrics and exhausted parroting, it’s about Chris’s life and his love for his fiancée. The song has a beautiful story, because it shows how strong true love could be; it has it’s ascents and descents, but no matter what happens, it will never lose it’s power.

I uploaded this song to my iPod right away when I heard this for the first time. I think that the reason why I like this song so much is mostly because of the lyrics. Now you know that it’s written for  his girlfriend who suffers an injury, but the main thing and also the chorus of the song can help people with their own relationships and problems, because  it’s about realistic, mutual and complicated subject that I believe everyone has pondered sometimes. Or am I wrong, if I say that I guess everyone has felt like this even once and can underwrite the question which also encapsulates the song: What are words if you really don’t mean them when you say them?

Anywhere you are, I am near
Anywhere you go, I’ll be there
Anytime you whisper my name, you’ll see
How every single promise I keep
Cause what kind of guy would I be
If I was to leave when you need me most

What are words
If you really don’t mean them
When you say them
What are words
If they’re only for good times
Then they don’t
When it’s love
Yeah, you say them out loud
Those words, They never go away
They live on, even when we’re gone

And I know an angel was sent just for me
And I know I’m meant to be where I am
And I’m gonna be
Standing right beside her tonight
And I’m gonna be by your side
I would never leave when she needs me most

What are words
If you really don’t mean them
When you say them
What are words
If they’re only for good times
Then they don’t
When it’s love
Yeah, you say them out loud
Those words, They never go away
They live on, even when we’re gone

Anywhere you are, I am near
Anywhere you go, I’ll be there
And I’m gonna be here forever more
Every single promise I keep
Cause what kind of guy would I be
If I was to leave when you need me most

I’m forever keeping my angel close

This song is performed by Enrique Iglesias and Whitney Houston.
Writer of the song is Diane Warren.

I chose this song because it makes me feel good and it reminds me of good times when I were just a kid. It makes me feel like I was still one 5 year old boy with no worries. I also chose this song because of Enrique. I have listened him almost all my life and still do. The biggest reason why have I listened to Enrique is that my mom sang his songs often. He is now one of my favorite music artists. I learned my first english words with this song because my mom was always singing this and I just was trying to imitate her. I also learned my fist spanish words “para siempre = forever”. But even when I learned to say those words, I still didnt know what they meant. In fact I didnt even care.

Nowdays I still listen this song sometimes, not only because of the good feeling, but also I understand the lyrics now and they are beautifull! I love music and I listen it all the time but for me lyrics are the ones that makes song timeless.

When I read about Enrique sometimes I really see myself. Thats the biggest reason why he is one of my favorite music artist. His parents had problems and divorced when he was just a boy, and I know it is not fun to wach them fight. His grandfather was kidnapped also so he had to move for his own safety, he moved to Belgrade, Yugoslavia and lived there for a year with his mother.
When he started his music career he didnt want his father to know about his plans, and did not want his famous surname to help advance his career.

Here are the lyrics for the beautifull song “Could I have this kiss forever”. ENJOY !

(Dame un beso para siempre)

Over and over I look in your eyes
You are all I desire
You have captured me
I want to hold you
I want to be close to you
I never want to let go

I wish that this night would never end
I need to know

Could I hold you for a lifetime?
Could I look into your eyes?
Could I have this night to share this night together?
Could I hold you close beside me?
Could I hold you for all time?
Could I, could I, could I have this kiss forever?
Could I, could I, could I have this kiss forever?
Forever

Over and over I’ve dreamed of this night
Now you’re here by my side
You are next to me
(You are next to me)
I want to hold you and touch you and taste you
And make you want no one but me

I wish that this kiss could never end
Oh baby, please
(Could I?)

Could I hold you for a lifetime?
Could I look into your eyes?
Could I have this night to share this night together?
(Un beso para siempre, para siempre)
Could I hold you close beside me?
Could I hold you for all time?
Could I, could I, could I have this kiss forever?
Could I, could I, could I have this kiss forever?
And ever

I don’t want any night to go by
Without you by my side
I just want all my days
Spent being next to you
Lived for just loving you
And baby, oh by the way

(Could I hold you?)
Could I hold you for a lifetime?
Could I look into your eyes?
Could I have this night to share this night together?
Could I hold you close beside me?
(Could I? Just wanna hold you)
Could I hold you for all time?
Could I, could I, could I have this kiss forever?
Could I, could I, could I have this kiss forever?
Forever and ever
Forever

Could I have this kiss forever?
Could I have this kiss forever?
Sólo, sólo un beso, un beso para siempre
Para siempre
Dame un beso para siempre
Para siempre
Could I have this kiss forever?
Could I have this kiss forever?

System of a Down BYOB(bring your own bombs)

This is a song performed by System of a Down.

They wrote the lyrics as a protest against the american goverment who just fight wars all over the world. Especially the war in Irak had a big influence on the songs lyrics. BYOB usually stands for bring your own booze. BYOB party´s are held when the host wants the guests to bring their own liquor. In this song ´´the party´´ is a war fought by the Americans and the booze are the bombs. System of a Down are against wars because they find that the presidents should fight their own wars and not snd poor people to them. There is also the frase “Still they feed us lies from the table cloth“. The frase stands for all the wrong information that the media gives to the people.

The song itself gets me in a very wild an happy mood. But when I look at the lyrics I get serious. I´m with system of a down because I find too that Americans fight wars for nothing. For exemple why did they go to Iraq? Iraq wasn´t fighting against an aother country. They just went there and killed Saddam because they thought they would free the people. Ok that was a nice thing they did there, but look at the order now. Do they live any better life?

Here the lyrics and song. Enjoy.

WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR!

Barbarisms by Barbaras

With pointed heels.

Victorious, victorious, kneel.

For brand new spankin’ deals.

Marching forward hypocritic

And hypnotic computers.

You depend on our protection,

Yet you feed us lies from the table cloth.

La la la la la la la la la,

Everybody’s going to the party have a real good time.

Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine.

Kneeling roses disappearing,

Into Moses’ dry mouth,

Breaking into Fort Knox,

Stealing our intentions,

Hangars sitting dripped in oil,

Crying FREEDOM!

Handed to obsoletion,

Still you feed us lies from the table cloth.

La la la la la la la la la,

Everybody’s going to the party have a real good time.

Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine.

Everybody’s going to the party have a real good time.

Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine.

Blast off, its Party time,

And we don’t live in a fascist nation,

Blast off , its party time,

And where the fuck are you?

….. Yeah

Where the fuck are you?

Where the fuck are you?

Why don’t presidents fight the war?

Why do they always send the poor?

Why don’t presidents fight the war?

Why do they always send the poor? [X4]

Kneeling roses disappearing,

Into Moses’ dry mouth,

Breaking into Fort Knox,

Stealing our intentions,

Hangars sitting dripped in oil,

Crying FREEDOM!

Handed to obsoletion,

Still you feed us lies from the tablecloth.

La la la la la la la la la,

Everybody’s going to the party have a real good time.

Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine.

Everybody’s going to the party have a real good time.

Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine.

Where the fuck are you!

Where the fuck are you!

Why don’t presidents fight the war?

Why do they always send the poor?

Why don’t presidents fight the war?

Why do they always send the poor? [X3]

Why, do, they always send the poor [X3]

They only send the poor

I didn’t find any good artist or song, which I could tell. So I chose one other way very good song.

The Lion King – Circle of Life

Nants ingonyama bagithi baba (There comes a lion)
Sithi uhhmm ingonyama (Oh yes, it’s a lion)
Nants ingonyama bagithi baba
Sithi uhhmm ingonyama
Ingonyama
Siyo Nqoba (We’re going to conquer)
Ingonyama
Ingonyama nengw’ enamabala (Here is a lion and a tiger)
From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There’s more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There’s far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round
It’s the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

This song is from The Lion King movie, which is published in 1994. The Lion King is one of the best movie from Disney. The song Circle Of Life is world famous and it is composed by Elton John. Elton John has won Oscar awards from The Lion King –movie musics. At the beginning African song was sung by Lebo M, and it was Zulu language.
The Circle of Life presented at the start of the movie, and it’s really emotional. I think that African Zulu language is a very good choice, it makes nice mood.
This song Circle of Life is about life and some kind of journey of life. It tells all the beautiful things what world can offer to. It also highlights that love, faith and hope are very important; even you have whatever situation in your life. “Through despair and hope, through faith and love.”  Circle of Life tells also that everyone of us has a own place, it just have to find. And have to remember be proud of yourself and themselves.

Mufasa: “You have forgotten who you are, and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life.”

The words are so beautiful, and give hope and create a good mood. Every living being is part of the circle of life.
That movie and especially that song is remained in my mind since my childhood, when I saw The Lion King very first time. The Circle of Life is been part of my life from I was a kid, and I see that it is still! The Finnish version “Elämän tie” it’s also very expressive. The Lion King and other “older” Disney movies includes a lot of good and legendary songs. These kind of songs needs more!

This is a song written by Eric Clapton in honor of his son who died at the age of four, falling from the 53rd layer of a skyscraper in New York. The death of his son was a sad and hard event to accept. Though the song was written for the son , it has had many awards.

In the lyrics of this song , Clapton “talks” to his son and tell about the death from his own perspective and experiences, the lyrics also tell about the better life that the son has in heaven. In the song Clapton lightens the death and takes it “positively” saing that the life continues despite all the events. I like this song because it tells slightly about the death and encourages to be strong and of course the soft guitar melody of this song is amazing with a great vocal.

I actually haven’t lost some familiar like Clapton , but this song makes me able to understand the sadness of death and how to be stronger in a situation like this.

The lyrics:
Would you know my name If I saw you in heaven? Would you feel the same If I saw you in heaven? I must be strong and carry on ‘Cause I know I don’t belong here in heaven
Would you hold my hand If I saw you in heaven? Would you help me stand If I saw you in heaven? I’ll find my way through night and day ‘Cause I know I just can’t stay here in heaven
Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees Time can break your heart, have you begging please, begging please
Beyond the door there’s peace I’m sure And I know there’ll be no more tears in heaven
Would you know my name If I saw you in heaven? Would you feel the same If I saw you in heaven? I must be strong and carry on Cause I know I don’t belong here in heave

Tori Amos live in 1992

Tori Amos , known nowadays as The Goddess of Rock, came into the limelight in 1992 thanks to her first album,  Little Earthquakes: her intimate and aching ballads combined with a raw sound had struck the world, revealing the singer’s feelings, passions and her grudge. She finds in the song-writing a way to face her past and her pains and as a result we have powerful lyrics, which can be, sometimes, hard to grasp, due to the autobiographical content.

For this post I’ve decided to present the fourth track of her debut album, Precious Things. When I was a child I was struck by her voice and her way to perform this song: I couldn’t understand a single word, but I knew inside that she was suffering while singing those lyrics. Growing up, anyway, I started to comprehend the meaning of to song, feeling it more and more close to me.

1994 performance

PRECIOUS THINGS

[VERSE 1] So I ran faster / But it caught me here / Yes my loyalties turned / Like my ankle / In the seventh grade / Running after Billy / Running after the rain.

[CHORUS] These precious things / Let them bleed / Let them wash away / These precious things / Let them break their hold over me.

[VERSE 2] He said “you’re really an ugly girl / But I like the way you play” / And I died / But I thanked him / Can you believe that? sick sick / Holding on to his picture / Dressing up every day.
I wanna smash the faces / Of those beautiful boys / Those christian boys / So you can make me cum / But that doesn’t make you Jesus.

[CHORUS]

[BRIDGE] I remember  / Yes in my peach party dress / No one dared / No one cared / To tell me where the pretty girls are / Those demigods / With their nine-inch nails / And little fascist panties / Tucked inside the heart of every nice girl.

[CHORUS] Precious / Precious…

Tori Amos

To understand  the title and the chorus of this song  we need to go back to Tori’s childhood, when her grandmother was used to read her stories from the Bible and to teach her to keep her virginity until the marriage and to be always obedient and subdued to her husband. She’s asking now to all these “precious things”, all this lessons, to leave her alone, to bleed away. She tried to run away from them but they always come back to haunt her, she can’t let go of her past.

The verses and the bridge are about her experience in the first years of high school and her first contacts with boys. Her anger is directed here against those arrogant guys of her Christian School, that really didn’t like her, but thought that having sex with Tori could have showed her how much good and cool they were. She now says to them that even if they were able to make her cum they weren’t worth of love, worth of her love. Though her anger feelings, anyway, she kept desiring those boys, trying to appeal them and be as much beautiful as she could. Yes, she tried really hard to be seen as a beautiful girl, but she just hadn’t blossomed yet, so she was seen as a nondescript nice girl. Tori at last flings accusations at the pretty girls of her school, girls that stayed apart from the ‘average’ people, secretly smoldering hate for all the people who weren’t at their level.

When I listen to this song I can see images that follow one another in my head, images that retrace my life, my growth, my mistakes and I often wish that all the bad memories could just disappear, leaving me alone, able to live the present without any regret.

The Kooks is a british indie rock band formed in 2004. They’ve channeled some of their favorite artists’ – as Bob Dylan and The Police output into their own blend of indie rock. Their debut album “Inside in/Inside out” include one of their best-known songs – Naïve. It was penned by the band’s front man and vocalist – Luke Pritchard when he was just sixteen years old!

              The Kooks – Naïve:

I’m not saying it was your fault
Although you could have done more

Oh you’re so naive yet so

How could this be done
Your such a smiling sweetheart
Oh and your sweet and pretty face
In such an ugly way
Something so beautiful
That every time I look inside

I know that she knows that I’m not fond of asking
True or false it may be
She’s still out to get me

I know that she knows that I’m not fond of asking
True or false it may be
She’s still out to get me

I may say it was your fault
Cause I know you could have done more

Oh you’re so naive yet so..’

It’s quite obvious that the song is about a girl cheating on her boyfriend (maybe written by own experience). Boyfriend has found out about it and she knows that he knows but he just doesn’t want to bring it up. By “Oh you’re so naive yet so” he might mean that the girl is naive when she thought he wouldn’t find out. The genius songwriter hasn’t revealed who the song is written to nor the true meaning of the lyrics even though some of them are quite evident. He has only said that the song was the kind that just “came out”, so that he didn’t actually have to work on the song.
Everybody has at least one song that they won’t get tired of, even after listening to it ten times in a row. My “timeless favorite” has got to be “Naïve”. It has been in my music player for about four years now and still even thinking about deleting it sounds way too harsh. Even though the lyrics are kind of sad the song always “makes my day”. The reason must be in Luke’s usual enthusiastic way of singing mixed with the chorus so easy to ear that you’re forced to sing along. I just LOVE it !

————————————————————————————-

I chose to make this post about Lil Wayne, one of my favorite music artists. He inspires me and the lyrics of his songs usually have a meaning.

Lil Wayne himself had a hard childhood. His dad abandoned him and his mother, right after he was born. They were left all alone in this cruel criminal community at Hollygrove division of New Orleans. They had to survive in this bad neighborhood. Lil Wayne’s mother always worked so hard to make things better. Luckily, later Wayne’s mother met someone called Reginald “Rabbit” McDonald, who later became Wayne’s stepfather. He took them out of that neighborhood to a better one. But still, Wayne’s life wasn’t as best as it could have been at that time. His friends were using him, no one understood his pain, no one understood anything about his life. The only good and trusted friend he had, was his mirror.

I chose Lil Wayne’s song ‘Mirror’ as it really makes me feel the message and the vibe he is sending through this particular song. Whenever you are and whatever your feelings are, the only one you can talk to, is yourself and the only transition for us to connect with ourselves, is through the path of THE MIRROR. Day or night, early or late, it is always here for me, as through it, I can see both my outer side and my inner side during my most happy days or during my dark days.Maybe our own eyes are the only ones to see, to see what is happening inside our soul. Is it burning inside, is it happier than ever, or is it regretting something we have done?  Also as one of the most famous quotes; ‘Never judge a book by its cover’ One can smile for us but we don’t know if the person is actually crying in the inside.

” I see the blood in your eyes,

I see the love in disguise,

I see the pain hidden in your pride,

I see you are not satisfied

And I don’t see nobody else

I see myself”

That part of the song really made me feel a deep emotion inside me, in some point it made me sad, in some point even glad, even made me feel new feelings, feelings which cannot be put into words.

I personally think that the lyrics of this song really merged with Lil Wayne’s own biography. Not straightly, but knowing what he had gone through in his childhood, not finding anyone to talk with. And maybe he might have done things that he regretted. And he expresses those feelings inside him through the lyrics.
